Our Teachers

  • Becky Uma

Fortunate to discover a love of yoga early in life, Becky grew up with the arts and developed a passion for expression through movement. Her formal study of yoga began at the Sivananda Ashram where she completed her 200-Hour training. Pairing this traditional philosophy with a more modern approach, she widened her sphere of knowledge in the 500-Hour Professional Teacher Training Program with Yogaworks. Under the mentorship of Erika Trice, Becky immersed herself in a precise, alignment-centric technique while surveying a range of practices from Vinyasa to Restorative to Ashtanga. Becky’s style today is a light-hearted mix of modernity and tradition. She currently teaches private and group classes across Westchester and New York City including vinyasa flow, hot yoga, restorative, and barre.

  • Colby Hewitt Mulvey

Colby happened upon yoga 15 years ago in a yoga course as a college physical education requirement. This accidental turn developed into a lifelong gift and steady practice. Although she worked for over a decade in the fashion industry, Colby was drawn to sharing her passion for yoga with others and earned certification through the Inside Out Yoga School at Exhale in NYC.

  • Jana Josel

Jana found her yoga practice about 10 years ago, and wanting to share her love of yoga, became a RYT-200 certified instructor in 2013. Her teaching style is vigorous, playful, and graceful, with an emphasis on self-acceptance and gratitude for what each person’s body and mind is able to offer them – on and off their mats.

  • Jocelyn Koenig

Owner/Director of Here&Now, Jocelyn invites our local yoga community into Here&Now to play, be adventurous, and safely expand strength, alignment, and awareness. Jocelyn's yoga practice began more than 15 years ago to complement a running and fitness regimen, and to ease the daily stresses of a career in law. After a few classes at Jivamukti Yoga in NYC, she was hooked! She relished the physical challenge and opportunity to quiet the mind while moving on the mat. As an added bonus, her running times improved and knee joint issues reduced. Through three pregnancies, yoga helped her remain conditioned and strong, and to rebuild fitness post-natal. As a mother of three young children, today her yoga practice continues inspiring a calm and centered presence. Jocelyn is a RYT-200, certified through Yogaworks in NYC, world-renowned for its alignment-based approach. Teaching in Brooklyn and Montauk while living in the city, she moved to Scarsdale in July of 2014 and began teaching in the area. She is thrilled by the opportunity to provide Here&Now, a space for the community to practice. Yoga and fitness benefit the mind, body and soul with a willing mind and dedicated practice. Jocelyn teaches an alignment-based strengthening vinyasa flow, guiding students through a creative sequence in a sweaty, safe and mindful practice. Her classes focus on building strength and flexibility, both mentally and physically. She believes that any pose can be made accessible to almost anyone, modified to be more or less intense. To engage all students, she offers modifications for beginners and challenges for more advanced practitioners, to offer something for everyone. She begins with a warm up, usually involving core work, and intelligently builds to challenging postures like arm balances, deep twists, and inversions.

  • Karli Alvino

Born and raised in New Jersey, at an early age Karli excelled in athletic, dance, and cheerleading endeavors, school studies, and other extracurricular activities. She took her passion for athletics and learning to Rhodes College in Memphis, TN, where she played both varsity soccer and softball, and pursued various club activities on top of earning her double major in business and economics. It’s no surprise that Karli still thrives from an extremely busy schedule! After attempting to work a desk job for a short while, Karli quickly realized her need for a career that allowed her the opportunity to touch peoples' lives, while creating a healthier foundation for their futures. She moved to Miami to find her niche in health and fitness and pursued her passion for fitness as a way of helping to improve peoples' lives. Karli is now living in NYC, and when she's not teaching fitness classes or training private clients, you can find her hanging out with her dog, running all over NYC training for marathons, dining outside, finding new ways to enjoy Nutella, or reading a nonfiction WWII book.

  • Michelle Larkin

Michelle Larkin has been practicing yoga for 13 years, and became certified to teach yoga to kids in 2007. When she's not on her mat, she's stretching, reaching, and running after her very active son, or writing articles about kid-friendly activities in Westchester County. Michelle is upbeat, full of energy, and quick to laugh. She turns to yoga to steady her mind, and to laugh at herself when her balance poses are anything but steady.
